Things that make me angry lately. [16 Jul 2009|04:40pm] [ mood | angry ] •The local 7-11 took away banana slurpees. That was the main part of my utterly delicious Banana-Coke-Cherry Slurpee Surprise (trademark pending). They replaced it with watermelon. I love watermelon a lot, and this tastes like watermelon bubblegum, but I'm trying hard to stop eating bubblegum, and eating something that tastes like it is not helping. They took away the Transformers-sponsored flavor and replaced it with a GI Joe flavor. Which is strawberry-pineapple or something. I don't know what that has to do with GI Joe, but whatever. Also, it is colored blue. Huh. •Artemis getting kernal panics. WHY? I blame flash. It seems to cause everything to freak out. Luckily, for once, it only loses crazy amounts of work every other time, so that's nice. •When Dyson throws up, he goes to town. It's really nasty. •I had a nightmare about a cosplay gathering and my brother. It started the whole day with a bad taste in my mouth. Sadly, the dream bothered me more than the dreams I have where I die. Priorities!!! ...or something. •The owner of the local Subway is the worst sandwich maker I've ever encountered. It could be that he really doesn't like me, but I think he just really doesn't like dealing with people in general. He makes lazy sandwiches that fall apart when I take them out of the bag and pretty much tells me when he's done with my sandwich. I got a sandwich the other day and he put the meat on, was halfway through putting cheese on before asking me (although I did want cheese), threw it in the oven before asking me (I don't mind, it was just sort of strange), then told me that I had everything I wanted on the sandwich and started cutting it. Um, no, I would like some veggies on it, thanks. Then he charged me tax on the sandwich. Not a big deal (oh noooo 40-some-odd-cents!), but 90% when I get sandwiches, I don't get charged tax because it's always to go. Whenever he makes me sandwich, he does something strange. I don't get this guy. I think he just probably really dislikes sandwiches or something. 1 Dark Passenger|Beckon?

I just ate like... a pound of cheese. [15 Jul 2009|12:45pm] Happy belated birthday to utterlystrange!! Hope it was like totally freaking win! Also (a late) happy birthday to my daddy! Thanks for always helping me with my crazy props and being there when I need you! ♥ So I bought some fresh mozzarella cheese last weekend and have been eating it cut into thick chunks on sourdough bread with a little bit of kosher salt sprinkled on top. It's really, really tasty. I went to go make some to have with my usual Magical Wednesday Slurpee of Sugar and Surprise®, but I found out that my bread was stale! Total suckage. So I just ate cheese with salt and Slurpee. It wasn't quite as delicious, and I ate a lot of cheese. Now my tummy isn't happy. Work on Sever is coming along alright. I was hoping to have him all painted yesterday, but spray paint didn't cover as well as I had hoped, so I got some primer from my parents' place and I'll go paint him up in about an hour, so the sun hits my painting spot and the paint dries nice and fast. *phew* Almost done with him! I was really hoping to have his robe done for Comic Con as well, but work just got busy again, so no luck there! Hopefully I'll be able to get it done by Halloween or something. I got new work! I have two new series I'll be working on. Both are great series and I'm really happy to have the opportunity to work on them. I'll probably talk about them at some length after Comic Con or something. For now, they're (along with Sever) keeping me super busy! I think I'll be able to finish everything I need to, as long as I have the assistance of caffeine and sugar! =D 8 Dark Passengers|Beckon?

Just about all better on the sickness front [11 Jul 2009|07:19pm] [ mood | determined ] Cough syrup is a wonderful thing. It put me out like a light and I slept better that I have in months. My cough mostly went away and I was able to sleep fantastically the next night too. I feel much, much better now, and I think that's mainly because of the couple night of wonderful rest. Huzzah! Today was incredible. Nur and I went to Starbucks in the afternoon and we decided to walk on the Iron Horse Trail with our drinks. The temperature was absolutely perfect, with a warm, gentle wind and beautiful grey clouds. As we walked, the clouds opened up and started to rain. We even heard some thunder! We took shelter under a tree until the rain let up a bit then walked until we saw a mother duck and her two tiny ducklings. They were so cute! We ended up watching them for a while, then saw an egret and a turtle! It was a lot of fun. I started playing Trauma Center 2 this afternoon, because I got today's work done and my Sever costume is at a stand still until I get some supplies tomorrow. The game is fun, but It should be retitled "WHAT WILL GO WRONG NOW?" I swear, so freaking hard!! AND, I have it on EASY MODE. I'm stuck on the sixth part of the first chapter. The kid keeps dying on me. STOP BLEEDING EVERYWHERE AND YOU'LL BE FINE, BRAT. JESUS. JUST STOP BLEEDING. I want to help you, but NNGHHHH. Anyone have any tips? The game over screen for TC2 is so sad. =( EDIT: OH LOL. I forgot about using antibiotics, durrrrrr.... I'm going to probably pick up the SMT DS game tomorrow, because I TOTALLY NEED MORE GAMES TO PLAY, RIGHT? And Life Rolls On [09 Jul 2009|09:21pm] [ mood | sick ] [ music | Nur playing BlazBlue ] The sinus and runny nose junk is 80% better. Totally awesome. But in exchange, I can't stop coughing and my energy level is low low low. I got some cough drops and cough syrup so hopefully the symptoms will be covered up for a while. At least long enough to get some decent sleep. I just hope that I'll get over this part of the illness as quickly as the other part. I headed into San Francisco yesterday to drop off some work that was too massive to upload to the server. The trip would have been really awesome if I wasn't so tired the entire time. But!!! I totally unlocked and completely cleared the JoJo world on Jump Ultimate Stars. Now I have a team made entirely up of JoJos from different generations. Freaking win. I'm slowly chipping away at the foam for Sever. I made some claws for him today, but I don't know if I'll use them or not. Hopefully I'll have it all shaped tomorrow. Then I get to design his robe, because I left some materials at my parents' place and won't be able to get them until Saturday or Sunday and therefore cannot start coating the head yet. But yes! Robe design! If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. I'm thinking or just making a traditional hooded robe out of black twill trimmed with this rust and gold fabric, but I sort of want to make it more bird-like. Like... add feather shapes or something. AX was pretty awesome. [07 Jul 2009|05:19pm] [ mood | tired ] So, got back from AX on Sunday night. It was seriously awesome. There were a couple hiccups here and there, but I had a great time. I'll post a really con report once I gather some pictures. By a stroke of bad luck, I caught the Con Plague. I was feeling a bit off during the con, but I wasn't sure if it was nerves with meeting new people or with being in a new costume or actually being sick. On Monday, I woke up feeling like death itself. Not so cool. My sinuses are rebelling and my throat burns, but at least it was better than the Plague I caught at AX 07. That one was a lot worse. I may feel like death, but it's not absolute death. It's more like "oh, I can still raise from the dead after this" death. Not so much "NOOO MY BODY IS BEING TORN INTO ITS PRIMAL ELEMENTS" death. But anyway, that's enough whining for now. Work is a lot slower right now, so I have a little time to work on the Gundam models I've put off for the last two years! I'm excited to get back to working on my Comic Con costumes, but I need a new tool in order to really get going on it. Hopefully I'll be getting that tomorrow! With most of my TV shows being on summer break, I'm catching up on all the anime I've missed. But first, I'm finally finishing some of the series I've had on DVD forever and never finished. Today I finished up Kenran Butoh Sai: The Mars Daybreak after starting it FIVE+ YEARS AGO. I'm currently finishing Star Ocean EX and then I'll complete The Melody of Oblivion. Ohhh, good times. wtf it's 108 outside [28 Jun 2009|04:00pm] [ mood | busy ] [ music | Ride Forever - Paul Gross ] Suddenly it's really hot here. It was just nice and cool too!! Life has been busy busy busy. I had a volume and a half due last week and another volume due on Wednesday, plus AX starts on Thursday so we're heading down on Wednesday. Gaaah, not quite done with my costume either!! Anyway, the last week has been actually pretty interesting. -Nur and I went to Jamba Juice and the guy there said he liked my accent. He wanted to know where I was from. I've lived in the area my entire life (save for the time I was in SLO for school). Nur says by "accent" he means my slurring problem. Bah! -The heat has painted a welcome sign for spiders on our door. I found a FUCKING HUGE spider on my bed on Monday as I was going to get my sunglasses. No fucking spider gets to play on my bed, especially when they're that big. I sure as hell didn't want to smash it when it was on there, so I got a cup and tried to catch it. The big guy was like an eight-legged cheetah! Suddenly he was on my pillow! GET OFF THERE YOU SOURCE OF MY NIGHTMARES! Luckily, I was able to get him there and I threw him outside and told him to NEVER COME BACK. That night Nur found the same type of FUCKING HUGE spider in the door frame. I swear it's the same one. Hells, it's probably the same one I threw out of the apartment a couple weeks ago. He killed it and we haven't seen any since. We stuffed some old fabric under the door (there was a good 3/4" opening down there), so hopefully that'll prevent more of them from visiting. I really, really don't like spiders. The only good thing about them coming in is that they're helping me get over my fear of them. Last time I threw one of these monsters out I left for a while and was scared to come back in the apartment. This time I was more angry than scared. -CSI: NY makes me so very happy. I just finished up season 4 and am eagerly awaiting the release of the season 5 DVDs. 4 was a good season, the 333 and Cabbie Killer arcs were really cool. -I finished season 1 of Prison Break. It took a while because it was so suspenseful I could only watch a few episodes a day. I have the DVDs for seasons 2 and 3, but I haven't started them yet. My heart needs to rest! -THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE THAT MIYAZAKI IS COMING TO COMIC CON. OH MY GOD. THIS IS AMAZING. I CANNOT WAIT. -I bought TV Guide this week because it had a Burn Notice cover. Mmmm, Burn Notice. I'm finally watching the second season with Nur because it just came out on DVD. I need Michael icons. -I am the Dino Fight champion. I beat the internet high score by 120,000 points. And that's a lot when my score is just 308,000. OBVIOUSLY I HAVE FOUND MY CALLING. I WILL NOW BATTLE DINOSAURS FOR A LIVING. Just because crime is interesting... [15 Jun 2009|07:54am] [ mood | bitchy ] So I found out late last week that I can listen to the SRV fire station dispatches through their website. I live nearby one of the valley's fire stations, so several times a day I see the engines roaring down the street. Now, with the streaming dispatch radio, I can find out what is going on. I think it's really interesting. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of telling my parent about it. Now my dad thinks I'm quickly becoming a shut-in creepy crime stalker. I also made the mistake of telling him I discovered the dispatch feed while looking for police scanners online (half because I would someday like to get one to learn the police codes and half out of pure curiosity). Both parents think I'm crazy and freaky (even moreso than before that is). Is it really such a horrible thing to find interest in crime and crime-stopping organizations? As is tradition, the end of the quarter means a new layout and profile picture! This time it's Dexter-themed! Pretty simple, but I like it well enough. I'll probably change my default icon or at least make some chibi-Dexter icons to go with the theme, but I was too lazy/didn't have any ideas on how to make them look like good icons. Nur went to his cousin's to play some D&D, so I had the apartment to myself from the afternoon on. Ya-hoo~! The Listener! [12 Jun 2009|07:19am] [ mood | cheerful ] [ music | The Frames - Dream Awake ] I just finished watching the first season of The Listener. Good stuff, good stuff. Toby is so freaking adorable! I might spam with some pictures later. I'm SO happy that it's on NBC now, because that means that there is a possibility that I'll get cast interviews and stuff on Hulu. You know, behind the scenes stuff. My hopes were answered this morning when I checked my queue and found a clip from the stars of the show. Oh happy day! (Warning, clip has some spoilers through episode 6) The clip is the usual, "what is this show, what's good about this show" sort of deal, but when Craig Olejnik (Toby) starts talking about Toby's relationship with Oz... GOLD. PURE GOLD. "They need each other, but I don't think they can define why or how they need each other. They obviously care about each other, they'll never admit it too much. Uhh... They full-on have a bromance, I think" OH HO HO! That's... sort of really adorable. Once I think about it, it totally is a bromance. A really adorable one. I guess I never thought I'd hear an actor say that though. I want there to be a Listener panel at Comic Con. I'm afraid I'll be a gibbering mass of fan-goo if there was. "UH UH UH HI I LOVE THIS SHOW AND UHHH MR. OLEJNIK YOU HAVE THE MOST GORGEOUS EYES IN THE WORLD AND DID I SAY I LOVE THIS SHOW AND WOW UHHH." The Listener, Royal Pains, Mental... [07 Jun 2009|04:05pm] [ mood | hopeful ] [ music | Ever, Ever After - Carrie Underwood ] Hulu Desktop is pretty damn awesome! Unfortunately, it prevents me from being able to use my space bar to navigate, command to free transform, or shift to transform uniformly in Photoshop. ...and since I use those three commands frequently while I work, it makes it difficult to use the program when it would be most beneficial to me! Hopefully it'll all get sorted out soon! Speaking of Hulu, I guess The Listener started on NBC, and it's also on Hulu! I really enjoy the series and I recommend it. If for nothing else, Toby has the most gorgeous eyes I've ever seen. And if you really enjoy it, it's easy to find later episodes, because it's been running in several other countries for the last few months. I'm also happy to see Royal Pains on Hulu. It just started on USA last week and the pilot was a lot of fun so I'm looking forward to seeing more. And now I don't have to bother downloading the episodes. Huzzah! While setting up some more preferences and junk on my Hulu account, I stumbled on the series Mental. Interesting plot, interesting main character, but it feels like something is missing. Crazy people are almost always interesting to watch though, so I'll try to keep up with it. I think I finally have everything to start my Sever mask, so I hope to get at least the basic shape of the foam carved out by this time next week. I hope to have everything for Seikichi's top done as well. I started his firework tube with my dad yesterday and it actually turned out REALLY well! This is the quickest and easiest prop we've ever made. Now I just have to calculate how much rope I need to buy then spend the fortune on it. X_X Ah, well. Dexter and Dyson [01 Jun 2009|01:56pm] [ mood | groggy ] I think I avoided con plague from Fanime, just to be hit with something a week later. I'm hoping it's just an allergy thing that I'll get over soon. I seem to keep getting little spells of sickness or something. At least they only last a for a short bit. Rewatching some of Dexter season 1, and am falling in love with it all over again. Oh Dexter, you're so broken and so lovable. It also renews my interest in finishing reading the book I have on serial killers. Thanks, Dexter!!! I was getting lunch today, and Dyson seemed really interested in the sourdough bread, so I ripped off a tiny piece for him. He gobbled it up! Then I got him to follow me around for another little bit. I really doubt it's good for him, so I'll only give him some for treats, but he's SO CUTE when he gets some. Now back to work! CRAZY HAPPENINGS and some crazy obstacle course [30 May 2009|08:24pm] [ mood | excited ] Crazy things have been happening lately! Yesterday, a gas tanker was hit on the nearby overpass, causing some 2800 gallons to leak out. It leaked into the sewers and down to Dublin High and the surrounding neighborhood. There was a helicopter circling around the area for a few hours, so I headed out to see what the commotion was but didn't find out about the spill until we went on our weekly Taco Bell trip. They made us detour through a neighborhood because there were all sorts of emergency and hazard cleanup vehicles. Craziness. When we went out today, they still had a few cleanup vehicles out there. Today Amanda, Nur, and I headed out to J-Town. Nur and I spent a fortune on books because it had been MONTHS since we had last been to Kinokuniya, but it was totally worth it. On our way to the market to get lunch, we saw something like six regular police cars and an undercover police car screech down the road and arrest a guy who was on foot. We didn't see them take down the guy (I think we were all watching the police cars), but suddenly there was a guy on the ground and police all over him. CRAZINESS. I know we shouldn't have been so interested, but we couldn't look away! We also got to see the progress on the Viz Pictures building, but it wasn't nearly as interesting as the arrest. Nur and I are watching Sasuke and it is AWESOME. The version he downloaded has commercials too, so it's like watching actual tv. Well, Japanese tv. Which has much more amusing commercials. I haven't had such a blast watching anything is a very long time. There was a guy dressed as Jack Bauer from 24, and another dressed as Obama. The Obama-Guy looked surprisingly like Obama and got the crowd to shout "Yes we can! Yes we can!" When he lost, he told that camera, "No I can't." I love this show. 4 Dark Passengers|Beckon?

Fanime 2009 Report [29 May 2009|10:08am] [ mood | happy ] This is a photo-less entry, so it might be sort of boring. My camera broke a while back, alas, alas. Friday: Got in to San Jose pretty early and were able to check in to our hotel. We got a corner room (it never hurts to ask for the type of room you want!), so we were very, very happy. I threw on Jacuzzi and hung around with people until the webcomic panel at 7pm. The panel was pretty awesome! I was nervous at first because people were so quiet, but after a while the room warmed up and we got some excellent questions. I was really happy with how the panel turned out. 9pm meant /cgl/ meet, and that was fun. I got to meet some awesome trip/namefags in person and Jesse made delicious, delicious cookies. Then it was off to Awesomely Bad J-Music Videos. The videos were both awesome and bad. Bad. REALLY BAD. I was passing out at the panel, so at the end I crawled back up to the room and crashed. Saturday: Pokémon gathering was at 11, so I put on Houndoom and joined the fun! I only stayed for about a half hour though. I went to the room and prepped for masq. I had to style my wig. It turned out... passable. Around 3:30, the masq team headed to the auditorium for practice. Our practice was really good. Unfortunately, when it came time for the actually performance, I botched it pretty badly. Sorry team. =( The entire masq was pretty awesome though!! I think the quality overall was much, much higher than last year. There were so many good skits! After masq, we headed out with a bunch of people and got cheesesteaks and hoagies. They were really good, I've never had one before!! Sunday: SBR gathering! I hung out with some other SBR people near the fountains and had a good time. I just wish my costume was more comfortable. My feet were KILLING me. I don't think I'll bring Dio to another con, he's just too hard to walk in and much too much trouble to transport. Maguma, Jesse, and Nik (along with some others whose names I forgot) hung out around where we were having our gathering waiting to go to lunch, so Nur helped me out and we ran up to the room so I could change into Jacuzzi again. Then we all went to Baja Fresh for a delicious lunch and some great conversation, mainly about Pokémon. I had a blast! When we got back, I went to meet up with Tog, and we wandered around as Jacuzzi and Graham trying to find other Baccano! cosplayers. We found the awesome Ladd from last year, and hung out with him, then with a Chane and a Dallas. I love Baccano! gatherings, they're always a blast, no matter their size! We also saw Erica, so I got to talk to her for a while too. =D After just hanging out for a while. Tog and I returned to our rooms to get ready for Restricted Rock, Paper, Scissors. I changed quickly (my costume is suuuuper easy for it) and headed over to the RRPS team's hotel room. Hung out with Juli as she checked in, then played on the escalators with Jesse. So much stupid fun. ♥ Then I got a wonderful surprise, my friend Andy from high school was at the con! I got to see him and talk with him for the first time in probably six years. Anddddyyyyy, I missssed youuuuuu~!! Unfortunately, he couldn't stay for RRPS, but his younger brother David (you know, the awesome David. Awesome totally runs in the family) could. So that was AWESOME. RRPS was AWESOME. It's always a blast. Theeeeennnnnnn, it was Houndoom time again and dinner. Monday: We packed up and dropped everything off at the car. I wore Houndoom again, because I didn't want to put a wig on and it's super comfy save for the head band used to hold up the horns. I ended up spending a great deal of money in the dealer's room. Overall, I didn't spend that much compared to most years though. That means money for other other cons this summer! David, Steebu, Nur, and I met up for lunch at Pizza My Heart (it's our tradition), then bid our farewells. The con was very awesome and I had a great time. =3 8 Dark Passengers|Beckon?

Random gathered thoughts. [22 May 2009|07:04am] [ mood | contemplative ] My huge Amazon order came in. Lots of awesome stuff in it, but most importantly (for the time being), the next two seasons of NCIS. Oh god, I didn't cry when she was hit (maybe because I knew it was coming?), but I'm a wreck right now as I watch everyone come to terms with it. It really hurts. Hearing Gibbs promise to keep people safe? I was BAAAAWING. kouaidou, what have you gotten me tied up in? On happier news, the order also contained the Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog DVD! I didn't think it was possible to love the cast more than I did before, but I do. The commentary and "making of" videos are so awesome! I haven't watched Commentary: The Musical yet, but I will when we get back from Fanime. I was taking a shower this morning and I was blowing my nose before I stepped out, when all that came out was a lot of blood. Then the blood wouldn't stop and every time I blew my nose after, blood would splatter all over, so by the time I got something to plug up my nose to try to stop the constant drip-drip-drip of blood, the bathtub looked like a crime scene. Fanime 2009 Plans [20 May 2009|04:42pm] [ mood | excited ] Almost done with everything! I'm just afraid that I'm going to forget something big. Which reminds me, does anyone that is going to Fanime have sunglasses I can borrow Sunday night? I don't know where the ones I used last year are, but I need a pair for my black suit outfit for RRPS. If no one has a pair, I'll just go run down to Longs or something and grab a cheap pair.
